1st Covid-19 recovery in Kenya
A Kenyan lady travelled to Ongata Rongai, Nairobi from the USA via London, UK on 5th March 2020. She was confirmed positive for the corona virus by the National Influenza Centre Laboratory at the National Public Health Laboratory of the Ministry of Health. The patient was clinically stable and managed at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Ivy Brenda, 26, got to realize that she had symptoms of the virus and showed up to the Ministry of Health for testing. She was diagnosed with the virus and put under medical surveillance. She was empowered by the support from family, friends, medical team, and the government.
After isolation for 14 days, the doctors realized that she was responding well to treatment and she was recovering. She completely recovered after the isolation and twice tested negative of the disease thus declared fully recovered. She thus became the first patient healed of the virus in the country, Kenya.
